The academy will provide middle and high school youth with exposure to opportunities in aerospace through week-long summer academies. Admission is offered to boys and girls from 13-18 years old who have an interest in learning about aviation.
Note: There are some locations with ages 12-18.
As per OBAP website there is a cost of $150.00 once the student is accepted into the selected academy.
There are a limited number of fee waivers for most locations for the $150.00 application fee. You can apply for a fee waiver while submitting your application. Apply Today!!

STEM MATTERS NYC STUDENTS ENTERING GRADES 1-12 - FREE PROGRAMS -APPLICATION DEADLINE - APRIL 24, 2024

This summer, STEM Matters NYC is offering a variety of exciting, hands-on, experiential science and STEM programs for students entering grades 1-12 in September 2024. Students entering grades 1-9 can participate in a weeklong camp. Students entering grades 10-12 can participate in a two or four-week program. Programs run in all five boroughs, during various weeks throughout the summer between July 8 and August 16, 2024. If you are a student interested in animal science or aviation, marine biology or mechanics, ecology or engineering, or so much more

NATIONAL SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE FREE SUMMER PROGRAM 2024 MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY - MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2024

The National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) is a free program designed to encourage middle and high school students to pursue careers in transportation. It offers a fun mix of hands-on activities, field trips, and speakers, SAT prep.
Students receive a full scholarship that covers the entire cost of attending the program. Each participant receives a stipend upon completion of the program.

FREE - NORTHROP GRUMMAN SUMMER ENGINEERING CAMP AT USC - ELEMENTRY STUDENTS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2024

The Northrop Grumman Summer Engineering Camp at USC is a camp in which current 5th, 6th, and 7th grade students explore aerospace, civil, electrical, environmental and mechanical engineering with hands-on activities such as rockets, circuits, bridges and robots. Students also explore computer science by learning to code and write apps.

PROJECT PAYLOAD SUMMER PROGRAM MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS FREE STEM PROGRAM - UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MAIN CAMPUS AND ZERO ROBOTICS A 6 WEEK SUMMER CAMP AT USC:  APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2024

During this program, middle school students will authentically experience science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through rocket design, payloads, satellites, and Arduino programming.

Zero Robotics 6-week summer camp at USC.
Students participate in a robotics programming competition with ASTROBEE satellites inside the International Space Station (ISS). Students will learn how to code.

The Transportation Engineering Institute is a fun and interactive two-week residential program for high school students that permits exploration of various transportation fields and careers (land, water, air, and safety)

Engineering Scholars Program 

Engineering Scholars Program is to increase the number of students entering engineering programs in Arkansas through exposure to hands-on engineering projects, plant trips, and interaction with industry engineers. In addition, the one-week residential summer program includes counseling and advising sessions to assist students in preparing for college.

Current 8th-11th graders interested in engineering.

Windstream Girls CODE 

The objective of this outreach initiative is to motivate academically prepared females to enter the fields of computer science, information science, or web design. This one-week residential camp is for rising 8th and 9th grade students. In addition to hands-on instruction, students will attend seminars featuring female professionals to learn more about opportunities available for females in computer and information science

MINETA SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE (MSTI) 2024 FREE, THREE-WEEK ON-CAMPUS SESSION AT SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY - BAY AREA HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS  APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 17, 2024

This free program introduces students to careers in transportation and tech while earning three transferable college credits in Environmental Studies. Students come away understanding career opportunities in the transportation industry, such as airline pilots, bus drivers, train engineers, supply-chain managers, and many more. Students are also encouraged to pursue degrees that prepare them for transportation careers. MSTI’s partnerships with local industry leaders, like HNTB, California High-Speed Rail Authority, Mineta San Jose International Airport, VTA, and many others.

MTI's 2024 MSTI will be held weekdays, July 8-26, 2024*, M-F 9am-3pm** at San José State University.

FREE AEROSPACE ACADEMY
SUMMER PROGRAM - SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 24, 2024

The Aerospace Academy is a special summer academic experience held from July 8 to July 18, 2024. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time) every Monday through Thursday. The purpose of the academy is to expose students to the possibilities of becoming science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professionals in the future by directly immersing themselves in the aerospace industry and culture that The Aerospace Corporation provides.

AEROSPACE INSTITUTE FREE SUMMER 2024 PROGRAM - HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS - IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 24,2024 

The Aerospace STEM Institute is a virtual summer program held on June 25, 2024, with limited in-person attendance on June 26, 2024. The virtual event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time), with limited in-person attendance on June 26, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at The Aerospace Corporation headquarters in El Segundo, California. By participating in the Institute, students will have an opportunity to ask experts questions directly, complete activities as they relate to space, and be able to observe professionals working in diverse groups to assure mission success.

VERIZON FREE SUMMER 2024 TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY STEM ENRICHMENT 3 WEEK PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 15, 2024

The 2024 program will launch as a three-week non-residential program for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys and girls. This is a NO COST program and includes meals, snacks, transportation, program, and learning materials, in addition to a stipend for scholars who successfully complete the program.

 3-week in-person session this summer from July 8th â€“ July 26th , 2024. Food and transportation will be provided!

ARMY EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH 2024 UNITE SUMMER STEM PROGRAM 9TH-12TH GRADE STUDENTS - APPLICATION DEADLINE MAY 2024

Unite is a four-to-six week, pre-collegiate summer experience for talented high school students. Held at higher education institutions nationwide, Unite encourages students to pursue college majors and careers in engineering and other STEM-related fields through a program of focused hands-on rigorous academics, enrichment, and career exploration

The AEOP defines priority populations as those who possess at least one of the following criteria: 

  • Military-connected, which may include:

    • Military children: dependents of members of the Active-Duty Armed Forces and Veterans.

    • Military-connected: military children plus the dependents of members of the National Guard and Reserves.

  • Economic: Family’s taxable income for the preceding year did not exceed 150 percent of the poverty level; those who qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FARM) programs; were or currently are eligible for Federal Pell grants; homeless; in foster care

  • Racial and ethnic minorities that are historically underrepresented in STEM: Alaskan Natives, Native Americans, Black or African Americans, Latinx/Hispanic Americans, and Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders.

  • Individuals with disabilities, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Individuals with English as a second language (ESL) or English language learners (ELLs).

SUMMER ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE FOR KIDS (SEEK) PROGRAM FOR SUMMER 2024.

SEEK is a free, three-week summer program that offers a fun and engaging educational experience for students in grades 3–5. SEEK aims to provide high-quality learning opportunities to underrepresented students who otherwise may not have access to a STEM education.

THE MUSEUM OF FLIGHT BOEING ACADEMY FOR STEM LEARNING FREE PRIVATE PILOT GROUND SCHOOL SUMMER 2024 - RISING 9TH-12TH GRADE STUDENTS -WASHINGTON STATE

Private Pilot Ground School (PPGS) is a unique, fast-paced, three-week summer course that provides the opportunity for Washington State rising 9th-12th grade students to explore the fundamentals of being a professional pilot while creating a base of aeronautical knowledge needed to successfully pass the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) private pilot written exam. Offered at no cost!
Your instructors are licensed pilots and educators who will engage you in hands-on learning in The Museum of Flight’s state-of-the-art flight simulator lab in the Aviation Learning Center and through team projects. You’ll meet fascinating professionals in the aviation industry and take field trips to local aviation and aerospace companies.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE U.S. AIR FORCE (NMUSAF) INTRODUCTION TO BECOMING A PILOT- FREE PROGRAM - AGES 14-18 

This FREE course has been designed to inspire towards, and educate students about a career as an Aviator. This program consist of introductory level courses, which will provide a brief overview of what an actual Flight School would be like.

NATIONAL SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE -UNIVERSITY AT BUFFALO SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND APPLIED SCIENCES - FREE SUMMER 2024 CAMP 9TH-12TH GRADE

High school students entinering grades 9-12 are eligible to attend. Acceptance to our camps does not depend on high achieving academics or prior knowledge. Students who show enthusiasm for engineering and the STEM fields all have an equal chance of acceptance

Activities typically include:

  • Tour the regional traffic operation center and transit authority in Greater Niagara Falls and Buffalo region

  • Tour of Buffalo International Airport and Air Control Tower

  • Cruise along Erie Canal in Lockport

  • Demo of Olli - the Self-Driving Shuttle

  • Tour of the UB Motion Simulation Lab

  • Spend time with professionals from transportation authorities and industry

  • Projects focused on bridge design, railroad networking, and air transportation

  • Leadership and communication training

  • College preparation and learning about the admissions process

THE NATIONAL SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INSTITUTE - VERMONT - MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS 

The National Summer Transportation Institute (NSTI) is a fun, interactive, FREE program held on the Vermont Technical College campus for students entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades.

The NSTI is sponsored by the Vermont Agency of Transportation and funded through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.

SMASH ACADEMY - TUITION FREE STEM 3 YEAR PROGRAM FOR 10TH AND 11TH GRADERS - JULY 6, 2024 - JULY 26, 2024

SMASH LOCATIONS: ATLANTA, BOSTON, DETROIT/ANN ARBOR, AND BAY AREA.

SMASH Academy, our flagship program, is a FREE, 1-year, intensive CS-focused program that empowers students to deepen their talents and pursue CS careers. Scholars are immersed in tuition-free studies in partnership with leading universities throughout the country for one summer.  

Beginning the summer after their 10th grade year of high school, scholars gain access to the following:

  • A free summer of residential programming

  • Computer Science (CS), STEM Workshop, College Success,CS Pathways, and Electives courses

  • Networking events with CS and STEM professionals

  • A robust community of peers and support that will last a lifetime

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE FREE 1 DAY AEROSPACE CAMP 5TH AND 6TH GRADERS

During these camps, students will learn the basics of rocketry principles while having fun building their own model rockets.  All the necessary supplies for these free camps will be provided. Students may be able to launch their rockets during the camp. If launch on camp day is not available, information will be provided for when, and how, the students will be able to launch their rockets locally at a later date. All materials required for rocket launches will be provided at the scheduled launch event.

EUREKA! IS A 5-YEAR STEM MAGNET PROGRAM FOR 8TH – 12TH GRADE YOUTH -APPLY TODAY

The Eureka! program is a community-wide effort that thrives on partnerships and interactions with schools, community-based organizations, and local businesses and corporations. With our partners’ help, Eureka! incorporates multiple internships during youth’s high school years that provide exposure to real career opportunities. Partners also provide volunteer support, field trips, and funding for the program, ensuring that young people meet role models and mentors who provide support and inspiration.

TOUGALOO COLLEGE FREE HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER SCIENCE & ENGINEERING PROGRAM - HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS  - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 15, 2024

This program is geared toward providing students an early exposure to college life, college level courses, and career opportunities to expand their horizons and making a smooth transition to college.

  • Tentative Dates, June 6th to July 1st (Application deadline May 15th, 2023) changed to Tentative Dates, June 2nd to June 28th (Application deadline May 15th, 2024)

  • Students will be provided free room & board. A cash stipend of up to $400 will also be provided to students who will attend Tougaloo College in fall of 2024.
