ARIZONA PILOTS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31, 2023

The APA awards scholarships each year to deserving Arizona high school and college students. With these scholarships we hope to further the education of individuals who intend to work in the field of aviation as a pilot, aircraft maintenance technician or other related field. Applicants should maintain a scholastic position in the upper half of their class, demonstrate leadership qualities, moral character, and concern for others through community service.

NBAA SCHEDULERS AND DISPATCHERS MONETARY SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 31, 2023

The NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Committee is dedicated to promoting education and training as a means for individuals to increase the professionalism of their positions. To further this objective, NBAA created the Schedulers & Dispatchers Scholarship Fund in conjunction with several donors:
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the NBAA Schedulers & Dispatchers Conference. Funds may be awarded for amounts up to $10,000 per applicant.

STEM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

This initiative is designed to provide scholarship and academic support for African American students and veterans who aspire to earn STEM degrees and pursue careers in the STEM field. The program enables highly capable young people and veteran adult students to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions. The application is open to currently enrolled college students and high school seniors and veterans entering college as first-time freshman in the Fall of 2024. Each scholarship recipient will receive up to $10,000 to use toward their education.

MONTANA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION AVIATION SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 17, 2023

Montana is fortunate to have many generous individuals and organizations who believe in promoting aviation by offering scholarships to qualified persons. The Aeronautics Division assists in administering some of these scholarships and encourages participation. The scholarships are offered to help defray costs of education (e.g., flight instruction, aircraft airframe and powerplant (A&P) mechanic school, etc.). Winners will be announced in January 2024 and awards will be presented at noon on March 1, 2024, at the Montana Aviation Conference in Butte.

THE SPAATZ ASSOCIATION ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM -     APPLICATION DEADLINE NOVEMBER 30, 2023

The Spaatz Association Academic Scholarship Program is designed to provide financial support for post-secondary education (college or trade school) for those studying for the aerospace industry or leadership education.

-Must have earned your Mitchell by the date that you apply.

THE DAN L. MEISINGER SR. MEMORIAL LEARN TO FLY SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established in the honor and memory of Dan L. Meisinger Sr., whose career in aviation spanned 63 years. He was a founder of Executive Beechcraft, headquartered in Kansas City, MO and was twice named Beech Aircraft's Man of the Year. The purpose of this fund is to provide an annual flight training scholarship to a qualified individual. The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship, in the amount is $2,500, is to be used for the express purpose of initial or primary flight training.

THE SMART SCHOLARSHIP-FOR-SERVICE PROGRAM, FUNDED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE (DOD) - APPLICATION DECEMBER 1, 2023

The SMART Scholarship-for-Service Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), is a combined educational and workforce development opportunity for students pursuing a STEM degree. Awardees for both the SMART Scholarship and the Ronald V. Dellums Memorial SMART Scholarship (Dellums SMART Scholarship) receive full tuition, annual stipends, health and book allowances, mentorship and conduct internships at a DoD facility. Both scholarships establish a pipeline for recipients to begin a civilian career with the DoD. Review the eligibility requirements below to begin your application. Applicants must pursue a degree in one of the 24 SMART STEM disciplines.

SMART Scholarship Benefits include:

  • Full tuition and education related educational expenses (meal plans, housing, and parking not included)

  • Stipend paid at a rate of $30,000 - $46,000 a year depending on degree level (may be prorated depending on award length)

  • Summer research internships ranging from 8 to 12 weeks

  • Health Insurance allowance of up to $2,500 per academic year

NBAA AMT MAINTENANCE SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 10, 2023

The NBAA Maintenance Committee is dedicated to promoting technical education and training as a means for business aviation maintenance technicians to enhance their careers. To support this position, NBAA Charities offers current and aspiring maintenance technicians the opportunity to receive AMT Maintenance Scholarships. Military aviation personnel transitioning to business aviation are also eligible for this scholarship.

NBAA HANK HILSMANN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 10, 2023

The NBAA Maintenance Committee is dedicated to promoting technical education and training as a means for business aviation maintenance technicians to enhance their careers. To support this position, NBAA Charities, in coordination with Dassault Falcon Jet Corp. and Dassault’s authorized training providers CAE Simuflite and Flight Safety International, offers the the Hank Hilsmann Memorial Scholarship to current and aspiring aviation maintenance technicians and military personnel transitioning to business aviation.

TUSKEGEE NEXT PRIVATE PILOT SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE IS DECEMBER 31, 2023

The Tuskegee NEXT Summer Flight Program is a full-time, residential program in the Chicago area that runs from mid-June to mid-August Must be between the ages of 18-20 ​

TUSKEGEE NEXT FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM - BETWEEN THE AGES OF 21-25 - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2023

Building on Tuskegee Next’s Summer Aviation program, the Fellowship program is a two-week immersion experience to help them prepare for professional and personal opportunities. Participants will live in dormitories and attend daily programs including classroom training, simulators, flight training, and life skill courses. You will also have the opportunity to mentor Tuskegee NEXT Summer Aviation Program cadets. This opportunity may include a one-week externship in addition to the two-week immersion program.

COMTO - CONFERENCE OF MINORITY TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2023

COMTO’s National Scholarship Program supports our strategic goal of ensuring the continuing legacy of minorities in transportation. COMTO annually awards multiple national academic scholarships, ranging from $500 to $6,000 each to minority graduate and undergraduate students from across the country. AMERICAN FLYERS JUDITH RESNIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2023

PURPOSE

To provide women with support and assistance to advance their training in the aviation profession through instructing. This scholarship is applicable only toward the Certificated Instructor Ratings (CFI-A and CFI-I).

  • The Scholarship award will include 104 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours individual ground instruction, 14 hours dual Cessna 172 or 172RG, 6 hours dual simulator, and unlimited solo simulator access. Any hours of training needed outside these parameters will be at the recipient’s’ expense.

THE (NATA} NATINAL AIR TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP 

Applicable training includes any aviation maintenance program under the aegis of Part 147 or 65; any pilot certificate or rating under Part 61 or 141; and any aviation-related two-year, four-year or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.

Eligibility

Applicants of the NATA Business Scholarship must be:

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Be nominated and endorsed by a representative of a Regular or Associate Member Company of the NATA

  • Possess a Student Pilot Certificate (or higher), with a third-class medical certificate, if applying for pilot certificates or ratings

  • Demonstrate a commitment to general aviation

      JIM COOK HONORARY SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2023

      The scholarship honors Jim Cook, the first chairman of the AEA Educational Foundation and recognizes his assistance in establishing the Foundation the cornerstone of AEA’s training initiatives. This scholarship will be awarded to AEA member employees and will cover a full training course registration. This annual award recognizes an AEA member employee for their exemplary job performance and pursuit of professional development and continuous education.

      THE NATIONAL AIR TRANSPORTATION FOUNDATION (NATF) ESTABLISHED THE PIONEERS OF FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP 

      • College students in their sophomore or junior year who are enrolled in a full-time aviation degree program at an accredited four-year college or university

      • A high academic achiever with a 3.0 GPA or better, on a 4.0 scale

      • Able to demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation

      PIONEERS OF FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP

      The Pioneers of Flight scholarships, in the amounts of $1,000 each, are to be used for one year of full-time undergraduate study.

      KING SCHOOLS NAFI SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 4, 2024

      King Schools and NAFI have teamed up to create an opportunity for a CFI to receive a valuable scholarship to further their education and training.


      The award includes $5,000 to apply toward an initial CFI rating or any CFI add-on rating, access to the entire library of King Schools online courses for life (valued at over $14,000), and FIRCs for life. Applicants must be a NAFI member, holding a current FAA Commercial certificate with an Instrument rating, or a CFI certificate. (Scholarship value over $19,000)

      THE LYONS AVIATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 13, 2024

      They are a private foundation that awards a yearly aviation scholarship to financially support a deserving young person pursuing their Private Pilot Certificate.

      Minimum scholarship award is $1500 and up to cover the entire cost of obtaining a private pilot certificate.

      WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THE AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP?

      • You must be between the ages of 16-24 on April 25th of the scholarship year you are applying for

      • You must not currently hold a Private Pilot Certificate- Airplane

      • You must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident

      • You must of good moral character (have no misdemeanor or felony convictions)

      • You must be able to read, write, and speak English to FAA standards

      • You must be able to obtain a FAA Third-Class Medical certificate (only requested if selected for scholarship)

      • The scholarship recipient must commit to using scholarship funds towards their private pilot certificate within 8 months of being named a recipient.

      CIVIL AIR PATROL ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2024

      • Academic scholarships are monetary awards used to support CAP Cadets pursuing their undergraduate or graduate education. Monies are to be used for tuition, books, or room and board at any post-secondary school (i.e: college, university, vocational-technical school, etc.). Scholarship recipients must ensure that the money is used responsibly. Applicants may pursue any course of study. This year, scholarships will be made in varying amounts from $1,000 to $2,500.

      CAP CADET ACTIVITY SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2024

      For Activity Scholarships, all applicants must meet basic eligibility requirements below.

      Needs-based program supporting cadets at week-long powered and glider flight academies, possibly leading at a solo flight.

      USAFA PREPARATORY SCHOOL RECOMMENDATION - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2024 

      Each year HQ CAP submits recommendations to the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA) for one cadet to attend the US Air Force Academy Preparatory School. It's common for the Academy to admit several CAP cadets annually through this program, not just the promised one. The Prep School is a one-year program that greatly increases a student's potential for admission to the Academy. It is a fantastic opportunity for cadets who might not otherwise qualify for appointment to the Academy.

      CAP CADET CURRY UNIFORM VOUCHER

      The Curry Uniform Voucher provides cadets with financial support to assist them in purchasing their first uniforms, upon their earning Achievement 1, see additional information on the application page.

      CADET ENCAMPMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

      Thanks to Air Force support, CAP has special funding available to cover encampment fees and uniforms with an emphasis on serving economically disadvantaged cadets through the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program or CEAP (say, "seep").       You are eligible if you are pursuing your license on your own, and not part of any college, university or aviation program. In addition, we do not provide loans for any college or university tuition, even if you are in an aviation program.

      This scholarship applies only to obtaining a private pilot license. It does not apply to instrument ratings or any other aspect of flight training. This scholarship is not intended for individuals already enrolled in a university based flight program, which offers instruction in private pilot certification as part of the curriculum.

      GRUMMAN OWNERS AND PILOTS ASSOCIATION -

      APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2024

      The Grumman Owners and Pilots Association (GOPA) seeks young people who wish to apply for a scholarship of up to $2,500 USD to assist them in obtaining a Private Pilot license or equivalent, for single engine airplanes. The applicant must be 16 to 22 on the application deadline date, February 1. Candidates may be from any country

      VERTICAL FLIGHT FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS - FEBRUARY 1, 2024

      Each year, Vertical Flight Foundation (VFF) scholarships are awarded to college students demonstrating an interest in pursuing engineering related careers in vertical flight technology. The VFF scholarships are solely merit-based and the value of the scholarships range from $1,000 up to $6,000 (USD). The program is open to full-time students attending a university or college located anywhere in the world and regardless of a student's nationality.       MONTE MITCHELL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2024

      This scholarship will be awarded to an AEA member employee and will cover a full AEA Convention registration and include travel and hotel expenses. The award recognizes an AEA member employee for their exemplary job performance and pursuit of professional development. This is an annual award to be given prior to the AEA International Convention and Trade Show.

      WINGS OVER AMERICA SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

       Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation annually sponsors 50 scholarships to further the postsecondary education of Navy dependents from the aviation community. Most scholarships are $5,000 and some are renewable. Please read all requirements on the Application.

      ACADEMY OF MODEL AERONAUTICS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 4, 2024

      Eligibility

      To be eligible for a scholarship, the applicant must:

      1) Have been an AMA member for 36 continuous months prior to the February 1st application deadline.*

      2) Be graduating from high school in the year in which the award is granted.

      3) Indicate an anticipated major or trade, as well as the colleges, universities, and or trade schools to which the applicant has applied.

      EAA FLIGHT TRAINING  SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2024

      Flight training scholarships may be used to cover costs at any flight training school in the United States and Canada that is not a university program.

      EAA POST-SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2024

      Post-secondary scholarships may be used to cover costs for collegiate level programs in the United States including but not limited to: aerospace or aeronautical engineering, aviation business administration, air traffic control, aviation maintenance, professional flight, or any aviation-related STEM field.

      THE AERO CLUB FOUNDATION OF WASHINGTON SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2024

      Scholarships will be awarded to students enrolled in a District of Columbia Metropolitan Area Public or Public Charter school headed to an accredited college, university, technical school or flight training program with a passion for aviation/aerospace. Applicants from the following counties and the District of Columbia are eligible to apply: Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Prince George’s and Montgomery.
      Scholarship funds may be used to pay for tuition and fees at an accredited college or university for studies in an aviation/aerospace program, technical school (e.g., enrolled in a course of study in the pursuit of an FAA mechanics certificate or other comparable certificated aviation or aerospace position), or flight training.

      WILLARD G. PLENTL SR. AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2024

      The Willard G. Plentl Aviation Scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, will be awarded to a Virginia High School senior who is planning an aviation career in a non-engineering area. A certification of acceptance into a nonengineering, aviation-related postsecondary education program is required. Examples of non-engineering aviation careers include (but are not limited to) pilots, aviation maintenance technicians, aviation managers, etc. Scholarship applicants must have an unweighted GPA of at least 3.5. One scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded each year and is renewable.

      JOHN R. LILLARD FOUNDATION, INC. AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM -

      The John R. Lillard Foundation, Inc. (the Foundation) distributes financial assistance to deserving students who are graduating from a public high school within the Commonwealth of Virginia and who are admitted to an institution of higher education in the field of aviation management and/or aviation sciences. Unless otherwise directed by the applicant, the Foundation will consider applicants for both the John R. Lillard and Kenneth R. Scott scholarships. The Foundation reserves the right to award a $3,000 scholarship to two separate applicants or combine both scholarships for a single applicant, at its sole discretion.       KENNETH R. SCOTT AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP - VIRGINIA RESIDENT - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1, 2024

      In order for your application to be considered, you must be a Virginia high school senior, have at least a 3.50 unweighted GPA; be planning a career in the field of aviation, and must be enrolled or accepted into an aviation-related program at an accredited college.

      CHAD WEAVER SCHOLARSHIP -VIRGINIA RESIDENT

      This scholarship will reimburse $1000.00 to Virginia residents for ground school and/or flight training to become a private pilot or ground school and/or flight training to become a certified flight instructor (CFI) at a Virginia flight school. No other expenses will be reimbursed. Students must have a current FAA medical.

       AEA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS 19 DIFFERENT SCHOLARSHIPS - HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS/COLLEGE STUDENTS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

      The AEA Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to students pursuing a career in avionics or aircraft maintenance, as well as students from AEA member companies. The Foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation maintenance by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs.

      GENE BAKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

      Open to all AEA members, their children, grandchildren or dependents. This scholarship may be used for any field of study at an accredited college or university and will be applied toward tuition only. The scholarship is in memory of Gene Baker, the first executive director of the Aircraft Electronics Association.

      AEROSPACE FUTURE STEM LEADERS SCHOLARSHIPS - THE APPLICATION DEADLINE IS MAY 3, 2024

      The Future STEM Leaders Scholarship program provides a $5,000 scholarship to a selected high school student at each of the following five (5) locations: Huntsville, AL; Colorado Springs, CO; Albuquerque, NM; Chantilly, VA; Hill, Utah or Arlington/Alexandria, VA. The scholarship funds are distributed after high school graduation and acceptance into a four-year college or university. Funds are non-renewable.

      Sling Pilot Academy provides scholarships to support aspiring individuals in aviation. These include their own annual $20,000 scholarship, and a further $500,000 of scholarships made possible through an FAA Aviation Workforce Development Grant won by Sling Pilot Academy. These FAA Grant scholarships include 25 Private Pilot Certificates worth $16,669 each and 160 commercial drone pilot licenses (FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificates) valued at $469 each.

      Glider to Solo at Crystal Airport (46CN)

      We provide funding for glider flight training through your first solo, up to $4,400. To include; glider rental, aero tows, instructor time, and flight simulator time. You must be at least 13 years of age and a U.S. Citizen to apply.

      Fixed-wing private pilot license at Santa Paula Airport (KSZP)

      Get your pilot's license in a tailwheel aircraft!  We will provide funding for aircraft rental and fuel up to 60 hours of flight time. Scholarship awardee will be responsible for flight instructor hourly rate. All experience levels are welcome.  Applicants must be a US citizen and at least fifteen (15) years old to apply. All training to be held at KSZP Santa Paula, California.

      Upset Recovery | Spin Training | Introduction to Aerobatics

      Summer Deadline: June 30th, Fall Deadline: September 30th

      This program provides you with a FAA spin endorsement.  You will obtain the experience needed for correct and precise actions responding to in-flight emergencies and unusual attitude recovery.  You will also obtain the ability to perform an aerobatic sequence and achieve an IAC Smooth Award.  The applicant must have a Private Pilot License or higher accreditation to apply. We will provide up to $3,800 in total funding.

      Training held at KSZP Santa Paula, California.

      International applications welcome.

      Aerobatic Judge Certification

      Deadline: December 31st

      We will make you a Certified Aerobatic Judge. The certification program covers the cost of a weekend judges school and travel expenses to and from the aerobatic contest where you earn your required judges assisting, as well as regional judges exam cost. No prior flight experience needed. We will provide up to $1,100.00 in total funding.

      Tail-wheel endorsement

      The Figure 1 Foundation strongly promotes becoming a tail-wheel pilot.       The mission of the Red Tail Scholarship Foundation (RTSF) is to seek, identify, and develop qualified, motivated students who demonstrate the values the original Tuskegee Airmen embodied, and provide them the tools necessary to succeed in the aviation career field. RTSF provides financial assistance to African American, underrepresented, and disadvantaged students to learn to fly and maintain airplanes at the Red Tail Flight Academy.

      HAMPTON UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

      Merit Scholarships can range from $5,000 -$25,000 per academic year.  These generous award amounts are designed to provide many awards to a vast number of our students, Merit based scholarships awarded to entering freshmen are renewable for three consecutive years beyond the first year.

      The Character Scholarshipwas created to recognize students who have demonstrated good character traits. Hampton University is now awarding 100 first-time freshman students a $10,000 renewable scholarship. Admitted freshmen students may submit an essay on the topic: The deadline to apply for this award is April 30th.

      Room Scholarships are offered to admitted students not previously offered scholarships in the amount of $10,000 or higher.  The award covers the cost of housing for all residence halls with the exception of James Hall Suites, Virginia Cleveland Suites and Orchard Hall. Interested students may contact the Office of Admission for additional information.

      The Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students who are direct descendants of Hampton University Alumni.  Admitted students who have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who attended Hampton University. Please contact the Office of Admission for information on applying for this award

      ABLE FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS - FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH CERTAIN DISABILITIES

      Able Flight’s mission is to offer people with disabilities a unique way to challenge themselves through flight and aviation career training.

      The Able Flight Flight Training Scholarship is designed for people who wish top earn a Sport Pilot certificate. It covers ground and flight training, testing, travel and lodging expenses as required. Applicants for a full scholarship must be available to travel for training for a six-to-eight week period without a break.

      For those who have become disabled after already having earned a pilot’s license, and now wish to return to flying under the Sport Pilot Rule.

      For those who wish to train to earn an FAA-issued Repairman Certificate (Light Sport Aircraft) with Maintenance Rating, or an FAA Dispatcher License, or  for training to qualify for a career in the use of drones for commercial purposes.
