FREE ALABAMA SPACE ACADEMY FOR EDUCATORS

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center® has received funding from the Alabama Legislature to bring teachers from across the state to a special Space Academy® for Educators.

This professional development program uses the format of astronaut training to convey new ways of teaching science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts to the world’s future workforce. The hands-on learning activities are designed to be easily replicated in the classroom and aim to excite students about STEM education. Activities will be geared to span grade levels 4 -9.

This scholarship includes:

  • Meals

  • Lodging

  • Flight suit

  • Educational materials

  • Certificate of earned CEUs

Glider to Solo at Crystal Airport (46CN)

Deadline: March 31, 2024

We provide funding for glider flight training through your first solo, up to $4,400. To include; glider rental, aero tows, instructor time, and flight simulator time. You must be at least 13 years of age and a U.S. Citizen to apply.

All training is to be held at The Soaring Academy (Crystalaire Airport 46CN) in Llano, CA

Fixed-wing private pilot license at Santa Paula Airport (KSZP)

Deadline: December 31, 2024

Get your pilot's license in a tailwheel aircraft!  We will provide funding for aircraft rental and fuel up to 60 hours of flight time. Scholarship awardee will be responsible for flight instructor hourly rate. All experience levels are welcome.  Applicants must be a US citizen and at least fifteen (15) years old to apply. All training to be held at KSZP Santa Paula, California.

Upset Recovery | Spin Training | Introduction to Aerobatics Spring Deadline: March 31, 2024

Summer Deadline: June 30, 2024 Fall Deadline: September 30, 2024

This program provides you with a FAA spin endorsement.  You will obtain the experience needed for correct and precise actions responding to in-flight emergencies and unusual attitude recovery.  You will also obtain the ability to perform an aerobatic sequence and achieve an IAC Smooth Award.  The applicant must have a Private Pilot License or higher accreditation to apply. We will provide up to $3,800 in total funding.

Training held at KSZP Santa Paula, California.

International applications welcome.

Aerobatic Judge Certification

Deadline: December 31, 2024

We will make you a Certified Aerobatic Judge. The certification program covers the cost of a weekend judges school and travel expenses to and from the aerobatic contest where you earn your required judges assisting, as well as regional judges exam cost. No prior flight experience needed. We will provide up to $1,100.00 in total funding.

Tail-wheel endorsement

Spring Deadline: March 31, 2024 Summer Deadline: June 30, 2024 Fall Deadline: September 30, 2024

The Figure 1 Foundation strongly promotes becoming a tail-wheel pilot. The skills acquired while flying tail-wheel aircraft will add to any pilot’s safety and also looks great on a resume. The applicant must have a Private Pilot License or higher accreditation to apply. We will provide up to $1,750.00 in total funding.

SOUTHWEST AIRLINES® COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

Southwest Airlines® believes educated communities are empowered communities, and that every student should have the opportunity to pursue their educational dreams. 

The Southwest Airlines Community Scholarship benefits students who are pursuing higher education and have career interests in the airline industry.

If you are the dependent of a Southwest Airlines Employee, you are not eligible for this scholarship. Please see the Southwest Airlines Founders Scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicant must demonstrate a career interest in the airline industry, including but not limited to frontline operations, customer service, aircraft maintenance, dispatch, engineering, flight operations, finance, technology, human resources, marketing, sales, or communications.

  • Applicant must be a graduating high school senior or previous high school graduate (having received a diploma or equivalent).

  • Applicant must be 24 years old or younger at the time applications are due.

  • Applicant must attend or plan to attend a first post-secondary degree or certificate program at an accredited vocational, community/junior college, or undergraduate institution in the United States in the upcoming academic year.

  • Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 (unweighted) scale. Please review this guide for instructions on converting your GPA to a 4.0 scale. GPA should be rounded to two decimal points.

  • Students who receive scholarships from any other source(s) which fully cover the cost of tuition and books are not eligible for this award.

  • Applicants may not be current Southwest Airlines Employees, dependents of current Southwest Airlines Employees, or company officers.

A2M AVIATION SOLUTIONS SCHOLARSHIP - ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

Scholarship awards for an undergraduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences. Preference will be given to veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, preferably Air Force.

The AEA Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to students pursuing a career in avionics or aircraft maintenance, as well as students from AEA member companies. The Foundation was created in 1990 to enhance, promote and secure the future of aviation maintenance by furthering the education of students, technicians, members of the AEA and others as determined by aviation industry needs.

GENE BAKER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

Open to all AEA members, their children, grandchildren or dependents. This scholarship may be used for any field of study at an accredited college or university and will be applied toward tuition only. The scholarship is in memory of Gene Baker, the first executive director of the Aircraft Electronics Association.

R. A. REARWIN SCHOLARSHIP FUND OFFERED BY: THE SAN DIEGO AIR & SPACE MUSEUM - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APPLICATION APRIL 1, 2024

Scholarships are reserved for and awarded to applicants who have demonstrated a strong career interest in the aerospace industry, who are planning to pursue a degree in an aerospace related field, and who have also shown a strong interest in the "hands-on" aspects of such a career.

LOCKHEED MARTIN VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

Lockheed Martin has established a scholarship program to provide opportunities to students pursuing an associate degree, credit-bearing certificate or an industry-recognized credential at a vocational-technical school, trade school, two-year community college or state college. In 2024, up to 150 awards of 5,000 each are offered for full-time or part-time study at an accredited U.S. institution of the student’s choice.

LOCKHEED MARTIN STEM SCHOLARSHIPS - HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR/COLLEGE STUDENTS -  APLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 1, 2024

Lockheed Martin has established a scholarship program to provide opportunities to students studying select STEM degrees (see eligibility below) that demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities. In 2024, up to 100 renewable scholarships of $10,000 each are offered for full-time study at an accredited U.S. institution of the student’s choice.

Upset Prevention & Recovery Training (UPRT) is dedicated pilot training developed specifically to mitigate the risk of Loss of Control In-flight (LOC-I),  UPRT trains pilots to develop the often counter-intuitive skills necessary to recognize and prevent or recover from an unexpected airplane upset.

The Petaluma Area Pilots Association offers annual scholarships for aviation-related studies. Awarded funds can be applied to ground school, flight training, A&P training programs, aeronautical engineering courses, etc. Scholarship applicants must be pursuing a career in aviation. The amount of funds available every year varies and is determined by the scholarship board.

The annual Charles J. MASSACHUSETTS AIRPORT MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION CROCKER SNOW SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION APRIL 30, 2024

MAMA awards annual scholarships to candidates who are pursuing careers in airport management or a related aviation field. The student must have a proven record of academic achievement, a strong potential to succeed in the future, and a demonstrated financial need. The applicant must also demonstrate potential and show progress toward becoming an aviation professional. Applicants must be a Massachusetts state resident and be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, in an accredited aviation-related undergraduate program for the period covered by the scholarship.

The South Carolina Aviation Association SCAA scholarship program will provide limited assistance for South Carolina residents attending a school inside or outside of the state who wish to pursue a career in the aviation industry. NATIONAL BLACK COALITION FEDERAL AVIATION EMPLOYEES - 2024 NBCFAE NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 15, 2024

Each year, in support of NBCFAE's Mission and Goals, a number of scholarships are awarded at the chapter, regional and national level..

THE WOMEN IN AEROSPACE FOUNDATION - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 18, 2024

The WIA Foundation is pleased to provide scholarships to those who identify as women, who are interested in a career in the aerospace field to pursue higher education degrees in engineering, math or science. Scholarships are limited to students who currently reside in the United States. The scholarship award may be applied toward any U.S. institution of higher learning.

GREG KOONTZ AIRSHOWS AEROBATIC INSTRUCTOR SCHOLARSHIP IN MEMORY OF BOBBY YOUNKIN - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2024

Greg Koontz Aerobatics has partnered with the International Aerobatic Club to promote and administer the scholarship program. The scholarship will be offered to any CFI as an aerobatic instructor course if already aerobatic experienced or as a basic aerobatic course to a CFI with no aerobatic experience. Personal merit and financial need are serious considerations for acceptance. A tailwheel endorsement and current flight instructor certificate are strictly required.
The recipient will receive a full two day course at Greg Koontz Airshows aerobatic school which includes two nights lodging at Sky Country Lodge, all meals, four lessons in the Super Decathlon including extensive ground instruction. The recipient would only be responsible for travel to and from the school.
Qualifications: Current flight instructor certficate and a tail wheel endorsement are strictly required.

IAC CP AVIATION EMERGENCY MANEUVER TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP IN MEMORY OF VICKI CRUSE - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 30, 2024

This scholarship aims to promote aviation safety through unusual attitude and aerobatic training. The scholarship includes three modules of the EMT® course which includes Stall/Spin Awareness, In-flight Emergencies, and Basic Aerobatics. The course will be taught in a Citabria and Decathlon.

Qualifications: The recipient must be a member of IAC and hold a private pilot certificate.

Scholarship Amount: $3,100 (no cash value).

THE NAVIGATE YOUR FUTURE SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: NO LATER THAN THE LAST FRIDAY IN JUNE 2024

The Navigate Your Future Scholarship is offered to a high school graduate continuing his or her education in the aviation industry. By making scholarships available, 

Applicants of the Navigate Your Future Scholarship must be:

  • Be a senior in high school planning a career in the general aviation field

  • Be enrolled or accepted into an aviation-related program at an accredited college or university

  • Submit the letter of acceptance from the college or university

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation

AMERICAN FLYERS JUDITH RESNIK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: 2ND QUARTER | JUNE 30TH 4TH QUARTER | DECEMBER 31ST

PURPOSE

To provide women with support and assistance to advance their training in the aviation profession through instructing. This scholarship is applicable only toward the Certificated Instructor Ratings (CFI-A and CFI-I).

  • The Scholarship award will include 104 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours individual ground instruction, 14 hours dual Cessna 172 or 172RG, 6 hours dual simulator, and unlimited solo simulator access. Any hours of training needed outside these parameters will be at the recipient’s’ expense.

RTAG FLIGHT TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS AND RTAG A&P TRAINING SCHOLARSHIPS- APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 1, 2024

RTAG is a Veteran run 501(c)(3) non profit organization designed to help all veterans, regardless of experience, jumpstart their post military career in the world of aviation.

RTAG scholarships assist in funding fixed wing flight training for U.S. Military veterans transitioning to a career as an airline pilot.

For 2024 RTAG goal is to offer $500,000 in various flight training scholarships! 

RTAG Flight Training Scholarships will be awarded individually based on overall strength/merit and completeness of the application.  The intent of these scholarships are to assist in funding fixed wing flight training and expenses directly related to that training for the purpose of a United States Military veteran or current Servicemember transitioning to a career as a commercial pilot.  Training will be completed with an agreed upon provider.

The RTAG A&P Training Scholarships will be awarded to two people and includes tuition, books, and training with an estimated value of $5000, for the purpose of a United States Military veteran or current Servicemember transitioning to a career as an A&P mechanic. Training will be conducted by the service provider of our choice.

GMAA-BATCHELOR AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP FUND, INC. FOR STUDENTS PURSUING A CAREER IN SOUTH FLORIDA AVIATION - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY 31, 2024

THE ALASKAN AVIATION SAFETY FOUNDATION - APPLICATION DEADLINE: JULY, 31, 2024

The Alaskan Aviation Safety Foundation provides scholarships to individuals who want to develop their aviation careers. There are three scholarships available each year for up to $2,000 each:

Scholarship Requirements:

  • Participating in an aviation related program with a qualified instructor or at an accredited college, university, trade school, or training center

  • Intends to make aviation their career

SHELTAIR & AVFUEL: FUTURE TAKES FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 31, 2024

Sheltair and Avfuel desire to re-invest in the aviation community by providing meaningful financial support to aviators pursuing a greater commitment to business aviation. In supporting career advancement opportunities, Sheltair and Avfuel are giving back to the marketplace that has allowed them to thrive as collaborative partners for close to 10 years.


The Sheltair and Avfuel: Future Takes Flight Scholarships will provide $30,000 in educational funds annually. Each year, the program will award six $5,000 scholarships across three categories: two for learning to fly or advanced pilot ratings; two for aviation technicians; and two for continuing education. By splitting the scholarship funds across three key categories, Sheltair and Avfuel seek to support advancement throughout a broad scope of educational opportunities within business aviation.

AVTRIP SCHOLARSHIP: $2,000
AVFUEL PILOT-IN-TRAINING SCHOLARSHIP: $1,500, $1,000, $500 - APPLICATION DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 4, 2024

The AVTRIP Scholarship was designed to award one current AVTRIP member with funds to use toward furthering his or her aviation education. The scholarship will be in the amount of $2,000. These funds may be used for, but not limited to, the following areas: flight training, educational tuition fees, and a new license or rating.

The Avfuel Pilot-in-Training Scholarship was designed to award three students with funds to use toward furthering their aviation education. The scholarship will be in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000 and $500. These funds may be used for, but not limited to, the following areas: flight training, educational tuition fees, and a new license.

Avfuel reserves the right to not award any scholarship in a given year if no sufficient application is received. 

THE RACCA AVIATION SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 15, 2024

The RACCA Aviation Scholarship is established for the purpose of promoting and assisting aviation as a career choice and to make students aware of the opportunities in the Air Cargo Industry. This scholarship can be used to assist in the payment of tuition, flight training, or to obtain new or additional licenses. Four awards will be made to students pursuing a career in aviation as a Pilot or FAA aircraft Mechanic with Airframe and/or Powerplant ratings Application Deadline: October 15, 2024

 DAN L. MEISINGER SR. MEMORIAL LEARN TO FLY SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: NO LATER THAN THE LAST FRIDAY IN NOVEMBER

This scholarship was established in the honor and memory of Dan L. Meisinger Sr., whose career in aviation spanned 63 years. He was a founder of Executive Beechcraft, headquartered in Kansas City, MO and was twice named Beech Aircraft's Man of the Year. The purpose of this fund is to provide an annual flight training scholarship to a qualified individual. The Dan L. Meisinger Sr. Memorial Learn to Fly Scholarship, in the amount is $2,500, is to be used for the express purpose of initial or primary flight training.

  • A college student currently enrolled in an aviation program

  • A high academic achiever with a "B" average or better

  • Recommended by an aviation professional, although direct applications are acceptable

  • Residents of Kansas, Missouri or Illinois will be given preference

THE (NATA} NATINAL AIR TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP  - APPLICATION DEADLINE: NO LATER THAN THE LAST FRIDAY IN DECEMBER 2024

Applicable training includes any aviation maintenance program under the aegis of Part 147 or 65; any pilot certificate or rating under Part 61 or 141; and any aviation-related two-year, four-year or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.

Eligibility

Applicants of the NATA Business Scholarship must be:

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Be nominated and endorsed by a representative of a Regular or Associate Member Company of the NATA

  • Possess a Student Pilot Certificate (or higher), with a third-class medical certificate, if applying for pilot certificates or ratings

  • Demonstrate a commitment to general aviation

      NEW MEXICO AGRICULTURAL AVIATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2024

      NMAAA will offer 4 scholarships per year to qualifying students.

      THE NATIONAL AIR TRANSPORTATION FOUNDATION (NATF) ESTABLISHED THE PIONEERS OF FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIP 

      • College students in their sophomore or junior year who are enrolled in a full-time aviation degree program at an accredited four-year college or university

      • A high academic achiever with a 3.0 GPA or better, on a 4.0 scale

      • Able to demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in general aviation

      SLING PILOT ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

      Sling Pilot Academy provides scholarships to support aspiring individuals in aviation. These include their own annual $20,000 scholarship, and a further $500,000 of scholarships made possible through an FAA Aviation Workforce Development Grant won by Sling Pilot Academy. These FAA Grant scholarships include 25 Private Pilot Certificates worth $16,669 each and 160 commercial drone pilot licenses (FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificates) valued at $469 each.

      AIR T, INC. AVIATION AND AEROSPACE MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP -  MINNEAPOLIS, MN OR CHARLOTTE, NC METROPOLITAN AREAS

      Do you want to become a pilot, an aircraft mechanic, or air traffic controller?

      A scholarship up to $5000 will be awarded to a deserving student who resides in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro, MN and the Charlotte Metropolitan, NC area interested in pursuing a career in aviation and/or aerospace meeting the following requirements:
      1. African Americans pursuing a career in aviation.
      2. A current transcript from your school (high school, college/university).
      3. An official copy of acceptance letter from an aviation and /or aerospace school or program.
      4. A letter of reference from one of the following: current teacher/professor, school counselor or community service or religious organization leader.
      5. A 500-word essay, double spaced, 12 pt. font in Times New Roman answering one of the questions listed on the application.

      THE AERO CLUB OF PENNSYLVANIA ANNUALLY AWARDS AVIATION SCHOLARSHIPS -

      The Aero Club of Pennsylanvia awards scholarships primarily for flight training for students interested in careers as pilots. However, there are many aviation-related categories that we will consider for a scholarship:

      1. Flight Training: Training in fixed wing, rotary, lighter-than-air, etc, with the intention of following or furthering a professional career in aviation.

      2. Aviation Maintenance: Training for those wishing to have a career in aviation maintenence as and Airframe and Powerplant mechanic, working on small aircraft or in the military or airlines.

      3. Air Traffic Control: Training for those desiring a career as an air traffic controller.

      4. Airport Management: Training for those interesting in the business and management side of aviation.

      5. Aviation Weather: Training for those desiring a career in aviation related weather positions.

      Thanks to Air Force support, CAP has special funding available to cover encampment fees and uniforms with an emphasis on serving economically disadvantaged cadets through the Cadet Encampment Assistance Program or CEAP (say, "seep").       PBJ understands the financial burden aviation students often face with training and educational costs.       RED TAIL FLIGHT ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIPS - TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA

      The mission of the Red Tail Scholarship Foundation (RTSF) is to seek, identify, and develop qualified, motivated students who demonstrate the values the original Tuskegee Airmen embodied, and provide them the tools necessary to succeed in the aviation career field. RTSF provides financial assistance to African American, underrepresented, and disadvantaged students to learn to fly and maintain airplanes at the Red Tail Flight Academy.

      HAMPTON UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

      Merit Scholarships can range from $5,000 -$25,000 per academic year.  These generous award amounts are designed to provide many awards to a vast number of our students, Merit based scholarships awarded to entering freshmen are renewable for three consecutive years beyond the first year.

      The Character Scholarshipwas created to recognize students who have demonstrated good character traits. Hampton University is now awarding 100 first-time freshman students a $10,000 renewable scholarship. Admitted freshmen students may submit an essay on the topic: The deadline to apply for this award is April 30th.

      Room Scholarships are offered to admitted students not previously offered scholarships in the amount of $10,000 or higher.  The award covers the cost of housing for all residence halls with the exception of James Hall Suites, Virginia Cleveland Suites and Orchard Hall. Interested students may contact the Office of Admission for additional information.

      The Legacy Scholarship is awarded to students who are direct descendants of Hampton University Alumni.  Admitted students who have parents, grandparents, or great-grandparents who attended Hampton University. Please contact the Office of Admission for information on applying for this award

      ABLE FLIGHT SCHOLARSHIPS - FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH CERTAIN DISABILITIES

      Able Flight’s mission is to offer people with disabilities a unique way to challenge themselves through flight and aviation career training.

      The Able Flight Flight Training Scholarship is designed for people who wish top earn a Sport Pilot certificate. It covers ground and flight training, testing, travel and lodging expenses as required. Applicants for a full scholarship must be available to travel for training for a six-to-eight week period without a break.

      For those who have become disabled after already having earned a pilot’s license, and now wish to return to flying under the Sport Pilot Rule.

      For those who wish to train to earn an FAA-issued Repairman Certificate (Light Sport Aircraft) with Maintenance Rating, or an FAA Dispatcher License, or  for training to qualify for a career in the use of drones for commercial purposes.       EPIC FLIGHT ACADEMY AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP - APPLICATION DEADLINE: OCTOBER 1, 2023

      Epic’s aviation scholarship program continues to grow each year to support young people interested in aviation. These scholarships are open to U.S. high school students. In 2023, we’ll award 4 pilot scholarships and 2 aircraft mechanic scholarships. The 3 $5,000 flight scholarships will be awarded for use at our locations: 1) New Smyrna Beach, FL; 2) Ocala, FL; and 3) Tallahassee, FL.

      High School Scholarship Requirements:

      • First, the applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

      • Furthermore, the applicant must currently be a junior or senior attending high school in the U.S. for the flight training scholarships.

      • For the aircraft mechanic scholarship, applicants must currently be a senior attending high school in the U.S.

      • Applicants must be turning 16 years of age or older on or before December 31, 2023 (flight training); or, you must be 18 years old by time of completing program (aircraft mechanic)

      • All applicants must be able to start training within 12 months of receiving the scholarship.

      • Also, you must be able to use the scholarship within 24 months.

      • Additionally, you must have parent or guardian’s approval if under 18 years of age.

      • Most importantly, applicants must have consistent, reliable transportation to attend Epic Flight Academy or be willing to relocate here during training.

      • Finally, you must be able to present a Third Class Medical for the flight training scholarship.​

      COLLEGE STUDENT PRE-COMMISSIONING INITIATIVE (CSPI) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - UNITED STATES COAST GUARD

      CSPI is a scholarship program for motivated college juniors and seniors who demonstrate academic and leadership excellence and a desire to serve in the Coast Guard. To apply, you must be a sophomore or junior at a federally designated Minority Serving Institution (MSI).
