SEES HIGH SCHOOL 2023 SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM - PARTNERED WITH NASA TEXAS SPACE GRANT CONSORTIUM

SEES HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER INTERN PROGRAM IS PARTNERED WITH NASA TEXAS SPACE GRANT CONSORTIUM - HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORES AND JUNIORS ONLY APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 20, 2023 NASA, Texas Space Grant Consortium, and The University of Texas at Austin Center for Space Research Summer Intern Program is a nationally competitive STEM program for high school students. The program provides selected students with exposure to Earth and space research. Interns will learn how to interpret NASA satellite data while working with scientists and engineers in their chosen area of work.

They are offering summer internships to motivated high school students who have an interest in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics careers. The interns will work beside NASA subject matter experts analyzing and visualizing data.nterns will complete distance learning modules prior to July 1, work remotely June 25-July 7, 2023 guided by project mentors. The on-site internship will be July 8 – July 22, 2023.

Housing, meals, and local transportation will be provided for those selected. A limited number of travel scholarships to Texas are available.

  1. Open to current high school Sophomores or Juniors ONLY (will be rising Juniors and Seniors) who have not worked as a SEES intern onsite previously.

  2. Must be 16 by July 1, 2023.

  3. Have a strong interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.

  4. Ability to complete on-line requirements prior to the on-site intern program.

  5. Must be US citizen

COST

  1. Q: How much does it cost? Is it really free?

  2. A: The only costs are for your transportation to/from Austin and any incidentals. SEES provides transportation to/from the airport and dorm, dorm costs, meals, and activities. We do have travel scholarships for students in need. Requesting a travel scholarship has no bearing on acceptance into the program.

  3. Q: I was accepted but can’t afford airfare. Should I apply?

  4. A: SEES has a limited number of scholarships for transportation. Please mark need on the appropriate question on the application. The need for a travel scholarship has no bearing on acceptance into the program.
