The 2024 Aerospace Museum of California (AMC) scholarship program is funded by the Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation and other generous donors. The program is administered through an AMC Board appointed scholarship committee. The scholarships will be awarded to deserving youth for flight training expenses.

EAA Basic Air Academy
Scholarship description and eligibility criteria
EAA Chapter 526 scholarships for two 14- or 15-year olds (as of June 28, 2024 ) to attend EAA Basic Air Academy summer camp June 28 - July 3, 2024, at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Applicants must reside in Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, or Sacramento County. The scholarships cover full tuition, housing, and meals. Upon each scholarship awardee's return from Oshkosh and in-person presentation of his/her trip report, EAA Chapter 526 will reimburse up to $900 in round-trip air fare to either Green Bay or Appleton from Sacramento.

Training for Commercial Pilot Certificate Scholarship
Scholarship description and eligibility criteria
Up to four scholarships for up to $12,500 each in training towards a commercial certificate will be awarded to qualified applicants as determined by the review board. These scholarships will be funded by the Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation.
Applicants must be 18 to 25 years old as of February 29, 2024, and must hold a private pilot certificate and an instrument rating. They must be within 40 flight hours of the FAA requirement for the commercial certificate prior to commencing training under this scholarship. Applicants must reside in the California counties of Placer, El Dorado, Nevada, Amador, Sutter, or Sacramento.

Training for Instrument Rating Scholarship
Scholarship description and eligibility criteria
Up to five scholarships for up to $12,500 each in training towards an instrument rating will be awarded to qualified applicants as determined by the review board. These scholarships will primarily be funded by the Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation. One may be funded by Mach 5 Aviation.
Applicants must be no older than 25 years as of February 29, 2024. At the time of application they must hold a private pilot certificate. Unless enrolled in a Part 141 program, they must have 20 hours of pilot-in-command cross-country time prior to commencing training under this scholarship. Applicants must reside in the California counties of Amador, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, or Sutter.

Training for Private Pilot Certificate
Scholarship description and eligibility criteria
Up to four scholarships ranging in value from about $3675 to $12,500 each will be awarded to qualified applicants as determined by the review board. These scholarships will be funded by Auburn Aviation Association (the Brigadier General C.E. "Bud" Anderson Scholarship), Auburn Chapter 526 of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), the Ellsworth Hovey Getchell Foundation, and Mach 5 Aviation.
Applicants must be 16 to 25 years old as of February 29, 2024. Applicants must reside in the California counties of Amador, El Dorado, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, or Sutter.
