(MITES) INTRODUCTION TO TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE FREE 6 WEEK PROGRAM - HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS

(MITES Summer) Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science -

High School Juniors - APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2023


This is a rigorous six-week residential academic enrichment program for rising high school seniors – many of whom come from underrepresented or underserved communities – who have a strong academic record and are interested in studying and exploring careers in science and engineering.


You will be able to tour MIT labs and local companies employing MITES alumni, and engage in seminars with STEM professionals and more.


The details

  • Room and board provided free of charge

  • Six weeks over the summer—late June through early August

  • Classes, recitations, workshops, and tours on weekdays 9:00am to 5:00pm

  • Social events, office hours/homework, and exploration of the Greater Boston area on evenings and weekends

During MITES Summer, students are required to stay in dormitories on MIT’s campus for the entire program, even if the student is local to the Boston area. Food and housing are provided free of cost to participants.


Eligibility requirements

(MITES) SEMESTER Introduction to Technology, Engineering and Science -

Hybrid Program -High School Juniors -APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1, 2023

This is a FREE six-month, hybrid learning STEM and college preparation experience. This is a national program running June 2023 through December 2023, this national program will take you through engaging, rigorous online courses and weekly virtual webinars, social events, workshops, and meetings with peers in the fall.


Eligibility requirements

To be eligible to apply to MITES Semester, applicants must be:

  • U.S. citizens or permanent residents

  • High school juniors

During MITES Semester, students participate remotely for much of the program. If there is a residential conference component for MITES Semester (this has not run for the last several years), students will stay in MIT dorms during the week long conference. Food and housing during the conference is provided free of cost to participants.
