As United continues to grow, it’s more significant than ever that we understand feedback from our employees and act upon data observed in the operation. In conjunction with our partners in Technical Operations Fleet Reliability, the Intern – Inflight Safety will help lead a project on cabin operational reliability items. The intern will use cabin discrepancy tools to identify, prioritize and drive top fleet mechanical/operational reliability improvement. Analyze aircraft performance after maintenance exit and advocate across the fleet for overall cabin item reliability.

  • Manage and review top aircraft / fleet cabin discrepancy items

  • Partner with key collaborators, including Tech Ops Planning, Engineering, Flight Ops and Catering to identify aircraft reliability issues and coordinate solutions

SUMMER TRANSPORTATION INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR DIVERSE GROUPS

APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2023

During this 10-week program, you will intern five days per week at the U.S. Department of Transportation, with the exception of some optional program opportunities such as field trips throughout the summer. Your internship placement may be at the Washington, D.C. DOT headquarters, or in one of several regional locations across the United States. Daily tasks will vary depending on your background, your skills and the office in which you’re working. STIPDG internship work is substantive and may include projects in data analysis, data management, research, article and report writing, presentation preparation and delivery, policy analysis and stakeholder outreach. Each intern is supervised and supported by a DOT mentor, and professional development workshops are provided by DOT and The Washington Center.

Compensation includes a $4,000 stipend for undergraduate students, or a $5,000 stipend for graduate and law school students. Flight Operations Safety Programs seeks a Co-Op to help support the Pilot Fatigue Program and the Human Factors Working Group.
